But those humans had motives… to convince, to sell, to win elections… and the machines are picking up those same tendencies. Those are reasonable human goals, but they’re not reasonable goals for machines.

the global AI race has created an incentive for hot shot 20’s something kids, fresh out of college and wanting to move fast, make huge incomes, get promotions, be the 1st to market. And who are not old enough to equate the moral and long-term ramifications of what they are doing. To move fast and break things, regardless of existential risk to us all.
